A Humble Beginning

In Columbia, Kentucky, Rex’s Cycle Shop is more than just a business—it’s a story of family, community, and a lifelong commitment. It all started when Rex Coffey, as a teenager, began fixing dirt bikes in his parents’ basement. What began as a “rainy day dirt bike hobby” quickly grew into something much bigger. By the time Rex graduated from ACHS in 1978, he was already known for his repair skills and love for motorcycles.

From Basement to Business

When Rex and his wife, Tammy, decided it was time to expand, they moved from Glensfork to a larger space on Hwy 55 N in Columbia. The new 6,500 square-foot building allowed them to showcase a range of brands like Polaris, Kawasaki, and Bobcat, and offer even more to their customers.

A New Chapter in Columbia

Tragically, Rex’s journey was cut short in 2006. But Tammy, along with their children, Matthew and Leslie, have kept the business thriving, holding true to Rex’s values of honesty and integrity. The shop is still a family affair, with the team dedicated to serving their customers with the same care that Rex did.

Keeping the Spirit Alive

Engagement with the community has always been a core aspect of Rex’s Cycle Shop. Prior to the pandemic, they actively participated in local events, including demos with local brands and collaborations with various industries. Although these activities were paused due to COVID-19, the shop remains a staple in the community, known for its personal touch and dedication.
